  • Panoramic Mountain Views: On the way to the Ganesh Himal trek, you can enjoy the majestic views of the surrounding region. Some of the famous mountains include Langtang, Ganesh Himal, Manaslu, and Annapurna region. You can view the snow-capped mountains up close from this trek.

Brief Itinerary:

  1. Kathmandu to Syabrubesi: On the first day of the trek, you’ll drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi, Rasuwa. This drive usually takes around 8 hours to complete. You’ll drive mainly along the Trishuli River, which is a scenic experience.
  2. Syabrubesi to Gatlang: From Syabrubesi, you’ll ascend to Bahun Danda Pass, and from there, you’ll descend to Gatlang. It is a Tamang settlement. Gatlang has the beautiful Parvatikunda Lake and Tamang Monastery.
  3. Gatlang to Somdang: On the third day of your trek, you’ll trek from Gatlang village to Somdang. You shall reach Somdang after a 6-7 hour walk from Gatlang.
  4. Somdang to Pangsang Pass: On this day, you’ll ascend towards Pangsang Pass. The trek will be a bit tough, as there are steep ascents along the way.
  5. Kharka to Shertung: On this day, you will descend towards Shertung. If you choose to stay in Pangsang Pass, you must have your own tent as there are no tea houses or lodges.
  6. Shertung to Borang: On the way to Borang from Shertung, you’ll walk through numerous small villages. You can push yourself and descend to Dhading Besi, but it is not recommended.
  7. Borang to Dhading Besi: On the seventh day, descend to Dhading Besi, the district headquarters of Dhading.
  8. Dhading Besi to Kathmandu: On the last day, drive from Dhading to Kathmandu.

Experience Required and Fitness Level

As this trek is pretty strenuous, it is advised that you be physically fit and have some level of experience. Prior trekking or walking experience will come in handy. Be sure to be physically and mentally prepared for this short yet challenging trek.

Packing Essentials

Carry enough warm clothes, a sleeping bag, and a spacious trekking backpack for this trek. Also, carry basic first-aid kits and toiletries to enhance your trekking experience. Be sure to carry plenty of food and water supplies that will last you the entire trek.
