Sankhu- Sankhu is an ancient Newari town with a unique culture and values. It is located in the Shankharapur Municipality in Kathmandu. It is famous for its temples, notably Bajrayogini and Swasthani temples. This ancient town is the starting point of our hike.
Changunarayan Temple- Enlisted in the UNESCO World Heritage Site, this famous temple marks the end of our hike. A small village named Changu lies right beside this temple. The temple showcases Nepal’s unique architecture and reflects the country’s rich history.
Telkot- Telkot is a small village in Bhaktapur located near a forested area. It is famous for its beautiful scenery and is good for hiking. It is also the transit point for travelers who aim to go to Salinadi Mela, which occurs once a year and continues for a whole month.

We meet at Baneshwor and head towards Sankhu. This 18 km drive will take 40 minutes.
We explore this ancient Newari town for a bit before beginning our hike towards Nagarkot.
We enjoy the hiking trail and slowly ascend towards Changunarayan, gaining altitude.
The trail from Sankhu to Changunarayan is not too steep and can be completed in about 3 hours. Along the way, we enjoy the serene landscape of this region. We’ll stop here briefly and enjoy packed meals soaking in the views around this region.
After enjoying the surroundings of Changunarayan, we slowly make our way towards Telkot.The descent towards Telkot is much easier, and we can walk more leisurely.
We reach the small village of Telkot and explore its surroundings.. We stop here to soak in the crisp air. Our guide will also briefly summarize this place, which reflects ancient Nepali culture.
After enjoying this joyful day hike, it's time to return to Kathmandu.
