About this activity

Namobuddha is a famous tourist destination in the Kavrepalanchok district. At 1750 meters above sea level, it is a perfect place for a day hike. However, it is not as big as some of the Buddhist monasteries, like the Bouddha or the Swayambhunath Temple.

The hiking trail offers the perfect getaway from the city’s hustle and bustle. Along the way, you’ll encounter traditional Newari Villages, which have some of the best cultures and traditions in Nepal.

This short hike frees your mind from all kinds of exhaustion. Further, standing in the spiritual land of Namobuddha, you can’t hide your beautiful smile. The hike usually starts from Panauti or Dhulikhel, which has some of the best hiking trails. Overall, Namobuddha is a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu, offering a mix of spiritual, cultural, and natural beauty.

Itinerary

We meet in Baneshwor and head towards Dhulikhel, which takes about 1.5 hours.

We will reach Dhulikhel at 8 a.m., the starting point for the Namobudhha Hike. Before starting the hike, we will have breakfast at a local cafe or restaurant.

The hike begins with a scenic route through rural villages and farmlands. The moderate trail takes you through a forested area with beautiful views of the distant Himalayan mountains.

We explore the Thrangu Monastery, one of the most significant Buddhist Monasteries. We learn about the site’s history and enjoy the tranquil surroundings.

After an exhausting hike, we enjoy a packed lunch and rest.

After lunch, we take a short walk around the Monastery and soak in the majestic views of the rolling hills and distant mountains.

It's time to head back and take the same route we ascended. The downhill hike takes around 2 hours to complete.

We arrive at Panauti after 2 hours of walking. The descent is easier, allowing us to complete the hike more comfortably.

After a long hike, we finally head back to Kathmandu. The drive takes about 1.5 hours.

We reach Kathmandu at 6 p.m., marking the end of our Namobuddha day hike.
