At 2762 meters, Phulchowki Hill is the highest hill surrounding the Kathmandu Valley. Located just 14 km from Kathmandu, this destination is popular with nature lovers and hikers. The name “ Phulchowki” means Hill of Flowers, referring to the diverse vegetation and beautiful flowers that bloom throughout the region.

You get stunning views of the Himalayas on a clear day. Langtang and Gaurishankar are some of the peaks you can watch from the summit. The Phulchowki hill is home to a small shrine dedicated to Goddess Phulchowki. Pilgrims visit the temple on a regular basis., such as Phulchowki Jatra, which is celebrated annually. The hike starts from Godawari, which lies at the base of the Hill. This place is magnificent for taking a day off and enjoying nature. Itinerary

We start our journey from Baneshwor, Kathmandu, which is also our meeting point, to Godawari, Lalitpur, which takes around 45 minutes.

Have a light breakfast in Godawari before setting off on our hike.

Our hike starts with a gradual uphill trail from the Godawari Botanical Garden.

The trail takes you through dense rhododendron, oak, and pine forests. Along the way, enjoy the stunning landscape of this region, especially in the spring when rhododendrons bloom.

From this point, our hike becomes steeper and more challenging. The last stretch of the Hike can be strenuous but rewarding, with majestic views of the Kathmandu Valley. You’ll find a shrine dedicated to Phulchowki Mai and a small Buddhist Stupa at the summit.

We explore the summit and enjoy the panoramic views. After that, we enjoy a small picnic with a packed lunch while enjoying the majestic views of the Phulchowki Summit. It’s time to relax and enjoy the landscape around this region.

We descend back to Godawari, following the same trail. The downhill is much quicker than the ascent but can be slippery at various points. The return hike allows us to leisurely complete the hike, enjoying and soaking in the natural beauty around this place.

Once back at Godawari, we relax and have some tea and snacks at a local cafe or restaurant before heading back to Kathmandu.

We drive back to Kathmandu, arriving by early evening.
