Shivapuri National Park, established in 2002, is located in the northern part of the Kathmandu Valley and covers a total area of 118 sq km. Rhododendrons, pine, and oaks are some of the vegetation found in this region. This region also has a variety of wildlife, including leopards, Himalayan black bears, and jungle cats.
This region of the Kathmandu Valley offers some of the most beautiful views of distant mountains. Shivapuri is the second-highest hill surrounding Kathmandu after Phulchowki, Lalitpur. On a clear day, the Langtang mountain range is clearly visible from the summit of the hill.
The hike can be challenging due to its steep ascent, but there are many stairs up to the top. The hike starts in Muhanpokhari, which is near Budhanilkantha Temple.
This hike is a perfect getaway for people looking to escape their busy lives and enjoy quality time outdoors.
